The first thing you need to know is that my name is not TOM Downtown. TOM is the nickname my kids gave me when I thought they were too young to call me by my first name. They liked to call me The Old Man so TOM seemed to fit the bill.

Secondly, for the purpose of my online identity, I have chosen TOM to be my pseudonym my pen name my nom de plume if you will. I’m doing this for several reasons but mostly because I’m a somewhat private person. I’m also not using my real name because over the years I have found out the hard way that as long as everyone agrees with you in DTLV it’s all good, As soon as you disagree or call someone out for making a really dumb comment or mistake you get the cold shoulder for months.

I’ve lived in Las Vegas for more than 50 years. I attended grade school, high school and college here. When Oscar Goodman created the “Fremont East Entertainment District” as part of his downtown renovation project I couldn’t have been happier. Then when Tony Hsieh announced his commitment to the Downtown Project I was hooked! I moved somewhat close to DTLV and have considered myself part of the community for about 5 years.
